Sum of Cannabinoids: The concentration of each individual cannabinoid added together as they are, without accounting for decarboxylation. This measurement is of particular importance for certain cannabis products that are not intended to be heated prior to application or consumption.
Total Cannabinoids: The concentration of each acidic cannabinoid, multiplied by 0.877 to account for the loss of molecular mass that happens as it is converted to a neutral cannabinoid when heated. Then this calculated concentration is added to the concentrations of the corresponding neutral cannabinoid already present. This corrected data is of particular importance to both producers and consumers of products intended to be heated prior to application or consumption.

The cannabis plant contains dozens of active compounds called cannabinoids. These compounds are the primary contributors to the psychoactive effects of cannabis.
Cannabinoid testing determines the potency of a sample to aid in dosage considerations.

1) As defined by the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp must contain no more than 0.3% Total THC, defined as the concentration of delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ-9-THC) post-decarboxylation - see formula above.
2) California Code of Regulations Division 4, Chapter 8, Article 2. Regulations for Industrial Hemp Cultivation hemp must contain no more than 0.300% Total THC on a dry-weight bases, defined as the concentration of delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ-9-THC) post-decarboxylation - see formula above.
Decision Rule: Statements of conformity (e.g., Pass/Fail) to specifications made in this report account for measurement uncertainty. Where statements of conformity are made in this report, the following decision rules are applied: PASS -Result is below the specified limit of 0.300% Total THC or exceeds the limit but is within the distribution range of measurement uncertainty is deemed to have an Acceptable Hemp THC Level; FAIL -Result exceeds the specified limit of 0.300% Total THC limit and the limit is not within the distribution range of measurement uncertainty is deemed to not have an Acceptable Hemp THC Level. Measurement Uncertainty is calculated at a 95% Confidence Interval.
