Hide Failed Pesticide Details
Chlordane* | Trade Names: Belt, Chlor Kil, Chlortox, Corodane, Gold Crest C-100, Kilex Lindane, Kypchlor, Niran, Octachlor, Octa-Klor, Synklor, Topiclor 20, Toxichlor, Velsicol 1068...etc.; A toxic organochlorine pesticide that has been banned in the U.S. since 1988. Since it was frequently used for termite treatment and is resistant to environment degradation, it is still prevalent in detectable amounts in many areas where it was applied decades prior.
Pyridaben | Trade Names: Nexter Pro, Sanmite 75WP, Pyramite, Poseidon, Starling, GWN, Sanimite...etc. ; A non-systemic pyridazinone insecticide that is also highly effective against ticks and mites. Although it is effective against whiteflies, aphids and other insects, it is commonly marketed for use against mites. It is highly toxic to many aquatic organism and bees.
Daminozide | Trade Names: Alar, B-Nine, Dazide, Kylar, SADH, B-995...etc.; A plant growth regulator historically used on fruits, but use on food-crops has been banned in the U.S. since 1989. Toxicity in humans is linked to unsymmetrical dimethyl hydrazine (UDMH); a degradation product and metabolite of Daminozide.
Chlorfenapyr* | Trade Names: Pylon, Phantom, Spectre 2 SC, Piston, Pirate, Shark; A type of pesticide called a "pro-insecticide", which means that the actual active insecticide is a metabolite formed within the host. It is also an effective miticide and displays limited systemic activity. It is not approved for use on food-crops in the U.S.
Myclobutanil | Trade Names: Eagle, Nova, Rally, Systhane 20 EW, Masalon...etc.; A widely used systemic fungicide that is effective against Ascomycetes, Deuteromycota, and Basidiomycetes species. Since it has a long residual effect, it can also be applied prior to contraction as a protective. When heated, myclobutanil forms harmful degradation products including carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen cyanide, and nitrogen oxides.
Spiromesifen | Trade Names: Oberon, Forbid 4F; A non-systemic tetronic acid insecticide that is also effective against mites. Although it is effective against whiteflies, aphids and other insects, it is commonly marketed for use against mites. It is used on a wide variety of food crops in many countries and is considered non-toxic to many beneficial insects, including bees. However, it does displays toxicity to some aquatic organisms.
Paclobutrazol | Trade Names: Pac-Low, Clipper 50 WP, Cambistat, Bonzi, Tide Paclo 2SC, Paczol...etc; AKA PBZ, is a plant growth regulator that disrupts the production of the plant hormone gibberellin. This has many effects on plant growth, such as increased fibrous root growth, thicker stems, decreased internodal growth and smaller but darker green leaves. These effects can subsequently increase yields and resistance to drought & infections from bacteria or fungus. It is only allowed for use on ornamental plants.
Dichlorvos (DDVP) | Trade Names: Anofex, Cesarex, Chlorophenothane, Dedelo, , Dinocide, Didimac, Digmar, ENT 1506, Genitox, Guesapon, Guesarol, Gexarex, Gyron, Hildit, Ixodex, Kopsol, Neocid, OMS 16, Micro DDT 75, Pentachlorin, Rukseam, R50, Zerdane...etc.; An organophosphate used as an insecticide and miticide in other countries, but has been banned in the U.S. since 1972. The subject of much controversy, DDVP has been linked to many health concerns and can persist in waterways for long periods of time.
